Navigating Life’s Challenges

I’m both surprised and proud that I’m writing this post because I have a few things going on and I seriously considered skipping Wellness Wednesday this week because my head wasn’t in it. But I decided to put something to together for you. It may not end up being a long post but hopefully you get something good from it, even if it’s just a small gem. For the month of the August I think I want to focus on Life’s Challenges because we all deal with it and we all have our own way of handling things. If you’re new, at the beginning of each month write about new topic that will help us with our self-development. I’m not claiming to have all the answers but my post are based on my personal experience of dealing with life and just observing life, my friends, and how others deal with things. For this month I want to talk about wha we can do to help us navigate issues (or challenges) that we all deal with in life.

Acceptance–because we don’t usually have a choice. Life’s challenges is inevitable; meaning we all experience some form of challenge. There are some challenges that we all deal with but at different times in our lives (death of a loved one, ending or losing a relationship, etc.). Those are some examples of things we can’t control so we have to learn how to accept because we have no other choice. This isn’t always easy and I kinda feel like it shouldn’t be. I think dealing with challenges and learning to accept it is one example of how we grow and learn.

You Won’t Always Be Prepared–because it’s impossible to do so. We won’t always know when something will occur but we should always keep the mindset that something may occur. I know people that refuse to accept the inevitable (this also includes things that aren’t always inevitable). When things occur you won’t always be prepared for it. The examples I gave above fall into this category; sometimes we lose people and we don’t see it coming. Not always being prepared and acceptance go hand in hand.

Sometimes It’s Us And Not The Other Person–this is probably a hard people for some people to swallow. Some of us don’t like to be at fault because of our ego. Honestly I low key judge people like this BECAUSE WE CAN’T ALWAYS BE PERFECT. There is no way that you’re always right and the other person is always wrong. It’s not possible because we are not perfect, we all make mistakes at some point in life. It shows growth on your end when you choose to accept the blame for something you did instead of finding the reason why the other person “pushed you to do it.”

Making changes and taking an assessment of our own behavior is not easy, especially if we’re not use to it. The goal is to be patient with yourself and make small changes towards being a better person. What are some methods you use to navigate life’s challenges?

I have a long history with mental illness. Overcoming depression made me realize my own resilience. It also made it clear that I wasn’t taking care of myself. I believe that in order for us to fully engage with ourselves and others we have to make time for self-love through our self-care habits. My goal with this blog is to encourage women in my age group to make time for self-care daily.
